  • Starting July 1st WSO Barrow will be the first Alaska National Weather Service office to be issuing a Surf Zone Forecast. See details in Service Change Notice 09-01. (06/25/09)
  • The Experimental Offshore Forecast for the Arctic Waters will begin approximately July 1st, dependent on the amount of ice-free water available for vessel navigation. Click here to see a map of the new Offshore Marine zones, a brief description of the service, and an example product. Additional information can be found in Service Change Notice 09-02. (06/25/09)
  • Beginning July 8th, or soon after, nine new gridded forecast elements will be added to the experimental Alaska National Digital Forecast Database (NDFD), totaling 15 elements in all. See Technical Implementation Notice 09-20 for details. Check out the experimental graphical Northern Alaska forecasts. (06/25/09)
