...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING
THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Heavy snow. From 5 to 9 inches possible.

* WHERE...Central Inner Channels, to include the cities of Juneau,
  Douglas, Petersburg, and Wrangell.

* WHEN...Snow beginning Thursday morning and possibly becoming 
  heavy at times Thursday night. 

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This snow is expected to be very heavy 
  with a high water content. Snow removal will be difficult. 
  Visibilities will likely be reduced during periods of heavy 
  snow. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A watch means conditions are favorable of the development winter
storm conditions in and close to the watch area.

Preparation for this potentially dangerous weather event should
begin now.

This statement will be updated by 6 AM AKST Thursday or earlier 
if conditions warrant.

...Snow Returning for Thursday into Friday...

Snow will be returning to some areas of the panhandle starting
late Thursday afternoon and continuing into Friday as a new system
comes in from the west. Highest precipitation rates are expected 
Thursday night. Snow accumulations remain uncertain as 
temperatures will be hovering near freezing throughout the event, 
but could range from 2 to 8 inches. Areas that would possibly 
receive the most snow will be Petersburg, the Mendenhall Valley, 
and higher elevations in Juneau.

We will continue to monitor this system and adjusting the forecast
as needed as we get closer to the event.
